Foot Alignment Socks assist with heel spur syndrome says Physiotherapist

  • Added: 29.07.2020   |   8204 readings / views

Heel spur syndrome is one of the most frequent complications found in the lower limbs. Many people over 40 suffer from the condition, but younger generations are no exception. The cause is poor body posture, inappropriate footwear and other poor habits. How can heel spur syndrome be prevented without surgery? Physiotherapist Marcela Ehlová, DiS, spoke to us about this and related matters.

Many people suffer from heel spur syndrome. Most do not know what the cause is. What are the first symptoms of this condition?

Most patients come in because of pain (in the heel). At the start, they only feel pain occasionally and think it will pass. Over time, however, the pain becomes more frequent and intensifies, and in some cases, makes life extremely difficult.

Can heel spur syndrome be prevented in any way? If so, how?

In my opinion, it can be prevented. But everyone should first ask whether we listen to our body in general and whether we try to prevent our whole bodies from experiencing pain, not just our feet. Heel spur syndrome can be caused, for example, by poor body posture. Based on my experience, I recommend certain exercises as prevention to maintain high-quality functional feet and whole-body posture.

Which methods provide a therapeutic benefit?

I believe in more conservative methods that addresses various issues. Understandably though, everything depends on the patient’s overall condition, how long they have had the pain, and how they prepare for treatment. In my opinion, it primarily depends on the patient themselves, whether they actively try to get rid of pain. I intentionally use the word pain, because a heel spur is a bone growth which will, unfortunately, not disappear on its own. Yes, it can be removed surgically, but I don’t recommend this procedure for everyone, because it doesn’t resolve the problem, unless the patient starts taking certain action themselves. A surgical procedure is “only” the removal of the consequences of a problem, not its cause.

Everyone should think about what is important in their lives and how they should deal with it. If they don’t want to exercise and follow certain recommendations, the problems may return after some time.

Have you ever been personally diagnosed with this condition?

Yes, I have. It started about seven years ago. At the time (as with most of my patients), I didn’t pay much attention to it, nor enough to make me start taking action. Now I know that if I don’t exercise, I will always have the problem, and sometimes it will be very unpleasant.

What do you think of Foot Alignment Socks? Do you recommend them to your clients?

Yes, I recommend Foot Alignment Socks. I’ve had a very good experience with them and am happy to share this with my patients. The socks are very pleasant. My patients also have a lot of praise for them.

In your opinion, does wearing Foot Alignment Socks prevent or only treat heel spur syndrome?

I would say they have a greater preventive benefit, but I’m certainly not against using them to treat heel spur syndrome. After all, why not? Prevention is incredibly important in this regard, so I certainly wouldn’t underestimate it.

How would you explain the benefit of wearing Foot Alignment Socks in preventing or treating heel spur syndrome?

They have a beneficial effect not only on the body’s vascular system but also its lymphatic system. They can also benefit the soft tissue on the feet, the calves of the legs, and at the end of the day, the entire lower limbs. Wearing Foot Alignment Socks reduces tension in the muscles and brings the feet and whole body into harmony. My patients tell me that they generally get a good feeling from wearing them.

How frequently and for how long should Foot Alignment Socks be worn?

Every day. For how long? Well, we are all different, so exactly how long cannot be determined. It depends how much time a person can spend wearing them. It’s also important to listen to your body since some people find it unpleasant after five or ten minutes, while others can easily wear them all night.

What would you advise readers for prevention and to maintain healthy feet?

If you want to learn something more about your feet and your whole body, go to an experienced and reputable physiotherapist who deals with this issue. We only have one pair of feet, and we should look after them if we want them to carry us through our whole life without any problems.
